There’s a difference between resilience and pig-headedness. Pigheadedness is about pushing an idea through come hell or high water. It’s related to the behaviour of resilience, but only distantly. In fact, you could say that pig-headedness is resilience without a leadership mindset. Without the other attributes, resilience runs the risk of making a person closed to learning; inflexible in their thinking; unaware of the impact of their actions on colleagues and the business; and determined to push ahead on their own without empowering others to act and share the initiative. If we’re ploughing forward like that, that’s the definition of being pig-headed.

So although resilience is a great quality to have, it works best alongside the other attributes.
